Home Bar Neon Sign, Ice Blue Letters

“Home Bar” in ice-blue rounded block letters puts a name on the room: the corner of the basement with the bar stools, the garage that became a hangout, the she shed at the back of the yard.

Block letters are made with the tube running around the outline of each letter, which gives them a clean, solid look. The ice-blue tube is flexible silicone LED neon pressed into grooves routed in a clear acrylic rectangle about 1/4 in thick, with small rounded corners and a 1/4 in hole near each corner.

Bars at home tend to live in rooms that were not built for them, so plan for the space:

• concrete, block or brick: wall standoffs set with the right anchor
• wood paneling or drywall: the screws and plastic anchors that come with the standoffs
• outlet across the room: a DC extension cable of 6.5, 10 or 16 ft between the adapter and the sign
• a garage or shed that gets damp: the outdoor build, sealed to IP67, with the adapter kept dry

The sign runs on 12 V DC from a plug-in adapter with a cULus Listed power supply, and a dimmer is included so the light can follow the evening. Ice blue is a cool, crisp color against dark paint and wood; any of our 18 tube colors can be requested on the proof instead.

Above a short bar or a bar cart, 24 or 30 in is right. Across the back wall of a full home bar, choose 36 or 48 in. For a long basement wall, or a garage you see from the driveway, 48 or 60 in.

Use wall standoffs on most walls, ceiling cables to hang it over the bar, and the free-standing base on a shelf. Keep to the indoor build unless the space gets damp.
