DC Extension Cable for LED Neon Signs, 6.5 to 16 ft

A low-voltage DC extension cable with a barrel plug and socket that puts more distance between the outlet and your LED neon sign. 6.5, 10 or 16 ft.

The best spot for a sign is rarely right next to an outlet. This low-voltage DC extension cable adds distance between the adapter and the sign, so you can hang the sign over a bed, a bar or a window and keep the adapter plugged in where the outlet is.

It has a DC barrel plug at one end and a barrel socket at the other, and it goes in between the adapter and the sign. There is nothing to wire or cut.

There are three lengths: 6.5, 10 and 16 ft. Measure the route the cable will follow, along the wall, the baseboard or a hanging cable, rather than the straight line, and choose the length that covers it with a little slack.

A few rules keep it working well:

  • use one extension rather than chaining several together
  • for a run longer than 16 ft, ask us first
  • use it indoors only

For an outdoor sign, keep the adapter and this cable’s connections indoors or under cover, and plan the outlet before you mount the sign.

It is made for our 12 V LED neon signs, which connect with DC barrel plugs. If you need to dim the sign as well, the in-line dimmer knob and the remote dimmer plug in the same way. For a spot with no outlet anywhere near, the 8 x AA battery box may suit better than an extension.

How to choose

Measure the path from the outlet to where the sign’s own cable ends, following walls and corners, and add a little slack. The adapter cable and the sign’s cable already cover part of the distance.

If the run is longer than 16 ft, do not join several cables; ask us first. For a table or an event with no outlet nearby, the 8 x AA battery box may be the better choice.

Questions

Can I join two extensions together?

We suggest one extension per sign rather than chaining several. For a run longer than 16 ft, ask us first.

Can I use it outside?

No, it is for indoor use. Keep the adapter and the cable connections indoors or under cover.

Which length should I buy?

Measure the route the cable will follow, not the straight line, and pick the length that covers it with a little slack.

Is this a regular extension cord?

No. It carries low-voltage DC from the adapter to the sign through barrel connectors. The adapter still plugs into the wall as usual.
