Neon signs by project
Wedding neon sign
A neon sign behind the sweetheart table or on the flower wall ends up in the background of many of the day's photos. Choose a ready-made design or put your names on it, then take it home and hang it on a wall.

What you need
- Size
- For a backdrop or the wall behind the sweetheart table, start at 36 to 48 in wide; for the cake table or the bar, 20 to 30 in. Allow about 2 in of width per character on the longest line.
- Color
- Warm white and white read best in photos and go with any flowers. Soft pink, as on Just Married, is a gentle alternative; another color can be asked for on the proof at no charge.
- Backboard
- Clear acrylic cut to the shape of the words lets flowers and greenery show through. On a dark wall or a busy backdrop, a black board makes the letters stand out.
- Mounting
- For a backdrop frame or an arch, choose ceiling hanging cables and clip the snap hooks into the board. On a table, ask for the clear free-standing base.
- Power
- Find out where the nearest outlet is before the day. If there is none, the battery box runs the sign for about 4 to 5 hours per set of 8 AA batteries, so bring a second set for a long reception.
- When to order
- Order 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding. The free proof comes first, then 15 to 20 days of production and 3 to 5 days in transit; rush production shortens production to 10 to 14 or 7 to 9 days.

How it comes together
- Decide where the sign goes: backdrop, sweetheart table, bar or entrance.
- Pick a ready-made design, or type your names and date in the designer.
- Choose the width from the space, about 2 in per character.
- Approve the free proof once the spelling, font and color are right.
- Check the outlet at the venue, or bring the battery box.
- Hang the sign on the backdrop with the cables, or stand it on the table.
- After the wedding, mount it at home with a standoff or no-drill kit.
Tip: Before the guests arrive, take a test photo and a short video with the sign on. If the letters glare, turn the dimmer down; if you see bands in the video, turn it up a step.
