Gym and fitness

A gym wall is big and seen from across the floor, so a neon sign there needs size and bold letters. Put up a motto, your logo or both.

What you need

Size
For a main wall seen across the floor, 48 to 72 in; a home gym or a studio corner takes 30 to 36 in. Bold block letters read better from far away than thin script.
Color
Ice blue, white and red read crisply against dark walls and rubber floors. For a logo, use your brand colors; several colors in one sign cost nothing extra.
Backboard
A black board looks sharp on a dark or painted brick wall; clear acrylic cut to shape suits a light wall.
Mounting
Fix the sign with wall standoffs, into studs or solid wall where you can, away from where bars, plates and balls land. Adhesive mounts are not the right choice near heavy equipment.
Power
Plan where the cable runs so nobody trips on it; a DC extension cable of up to 16 ft reaches a farther outlet. Keep the adapter off the floor and away from water bottles and mop buckets.
When to order
Production takes 15 to 20 days after you approve the free proof, then 3 to 5 days in transit. For an opening day, add rush production.

How it comes together

  1. Choose the wall people face as they train, or the one behind the front desk.
  2. Pick a motto or send your logo.
  3. Measure the wall and choose the width, with bold letters for a big room.
  4. Approve the free proof.
  5. Mount the sign on standoffs, out of reach of swinging equipment.
  6. Run the cable along the wall to the outlet, clear of the floor.

Tip: Use the dimmer: full brightness for a hard class, low for a cool-down or a yoga session.
