Standoffs are the classic way to hang an acrylic neon sign: the board floats about 1 in off the wall and the hardware looks neat and deliberate. Each standoff is polished stainless steel in two parts, a round barrel that screws to the wall and a cap that screws on through the hole in the acrylic board.

Every LED sign we make already comes with its mounting kit. This set is a spare or an extra: for a second location, for a part lost in a move, or for a bigger sign that needs more support points.

Each standoff comes with:

  • the stainless steel barrel and cap
  • a wood screw
  • a plastic wall anchor

They fit our acrylic signs, which have 1/4 in mounting holes.

To install, hold the sign where you want it, level it and mark the wall through the holes in the board. Drill, tap in the anchors and screw the barrels to the wall. Then set the board against the barrels and screw the caps through the holes to hold it. Use the plastic anchors in drywall; in brick or concrete, use an anchor made for masonry.

Choose a set of 4 for a sign with a hole near each corner, which is most signs, or a set of 8 for a wide sign with more holes or for two signs.

How to choose

Count the holes in your sign’s board. Most signs have four, one near each corner, so a set of 4 replaces a full kit. Choose 8 for a wide sign with extra holes, or to hang two signs.

Standoffs need a drill. If you cannot make holes in the wall, look at the no-drill adhesive mounts; to hang a sign in a window or from a ceiling, look at the ceiling hanging kit.

Questions

Will these fit my sign?

They fit acrylic signs with 1/4 in holes, which is what all our LED neon signs have.

How far from the wall does the sign sit?

About 1 in, so the sign looks like it floats in front of the wall.

Do I need a drill?

Yes, to make the holes for the anchors. For a no-drill option, use our adhesive mounts.

Didn’t my sign come with standoffs?

If you chose wall standoffs when ordering, yes. This set is a spare, an extra for a second location, or more support for a bigger sign.

Can I use them on brick?

Yes, with an anchor made for masonry in place of the plastic drywall anchor.
