Wedding neon signs for the backdrop and beyond

A neon sign gives a wedding a focal point: behind the sweetheart table, on a flower wall, above the bar or at the entrance. Afterwards it goes home and lights a bedroom or living room wall.

Ready-made designs are the quickest way. Better Together, Happily Ever After and Mr & Mrs come in warm white script, Just Married in soft pink and love in red. Each comes in widths from 20 to 60 in, and you can ask for another color on the proof at no charge. For your names, a last name or the date, use the custom wedding sign or start in the designer.

Size depends on where it goes. Allow about 2 in of width for each character on the longest line. A sign behind the sweetheart table or on a backdrop is seen across the room and in every photo, so 36 to 48 in is a good place to start; a sign for the cake table or the bar can be smaller. The wedding neon guide has examples.

Warm white and white read best in photos, and script fonts are the usual choice. For a backdrop frame or an arch, choose ceiling hanging cables and clip the sign on with the snap hooks. If there is no outlet near the table, the battery box runs a sign for about 4 to 5 hours per set of 8 AA batteries.

Order early. The proof comes first, then 15 to 20 days of production and 3 to 5 days in transit, so plan on 6 to 8 weeks before the date to leave time for changes. Short on time? Add rush production. The wedding project lists everything to order.

  • Warm white or white reads best in wedding photos.
  • Measure the backdrop or table, and allow about 2 in of width per character.
  • Find the nearest outlet early; if there is none, plan on the battery box.
  • Order 6 to 8 weeks before the date, or add rush production.
  • Ask the venue about wall fixings; hanging cables or a stand avoid them.

Questions

What size neon sign is best for a wedding backdrop?

For a sign behind the sweetheart table or on a backdrop, 36 to 48 in wide is a good place to start, because it is seen across the room and in photos. Allow about 2 in of width for each character on the longest line. The size guide has a chart.

How far ahead should we order a wedding sign?

Plan on 6 to 8 weeks before the date. The free proof comes first, then 15 to 20 days of production and 3 to 5 days in transit. If the date is closer, add rush production.

What if there is no outlet near the sweetheart table?

Use the battery box: 8 AA batteries run a sign for about 4 to 5 hours, and a fresh set gives another 4 to 5. If an outlet is a few feet away, a DC extension cable is the other option.

Can you add our names or the date to a ready-made design?

Yes. Ask on the order or the proof, or build it in the designer with your own words. Another tube color can also be chosen on the proof at no charge.

How do we hang a sign on a flower wall or backdrop?

Choose ceiling hanging cables: the cables fix to the backdrop frame and the snap hooks clip into the holes in the board. On a table, a clear stand holds the sign upright. The hanging guide shows both.
