Type your words into the designer on this page and the sign takes shape as you go: up to three lines of text, a font, a color for each line and a width from 20 to 120 inches. It suits a favorite quote above the sofa, a business name behind the counter, a nickname for a game room or a one-off line for a party.

Each sign is a flexible silicone LED neon tube pressed into a groove routed in clear acrylic about 1/4 in (6 mm) thick. Thin script letters get one tube along the center of each stroke; bold block letters are outlined. Tube ends are round and corners are gently curved, because the tube cannot bend to a sharp point. Anything too small for tube, such as tiny text or a fine line, is UV printed on the board.

Before we make anything, we send you a free design proof that shows the layout and the size. Ask for as many changes as you like: revisions are free, and production starts only after you approve. The fonts in the designer are a starting point; we can match a different font on the proof.

Every sign comes with:

  • the acrylic backboard, cut the way you choose
  • a dimmer, remote or in-line
  • the mounting kit for your installation: wall standoffs, ceiling cables, no-drill adhesive mounts or a free-standing base
  • a plug-in adapter (100–240 V in, 12 V DC out), or the adapter plus an 8 x AA battery box

Several colors in one sign cost nothing extra. Color changing (RGB) and the IP67 outdoor build are priced options in the designer. Standard production takes 15 to 20 days after you approve the proof, plus 3 to 5 days in transit within the US. The sign is covered for 2 years with free repair.

How to choose

Start with the width. Count the characters on your longest line, spaces included, and allow about 2 in for each: 10 characters need about 20 in. Over a sofa or a bed, a sign about two thirds as wide as the furniture looks balanced. If people will read it from across a room or a shop, go bigger: a common rule is about 1 in of letter height for every 10 ft of distance, and the designer shows the height as you change the width.

Then the look. Script fonts read like handwriting; block fonts look clean and bold. Warm white and white suit most rooms, and each line can have its own color.

Last, how it hangs: standoffs for a permanent wall, ceiling cables for a window, no-drill mounts for a rental, the base for a shelf. Pick the outdoor build only if the sign will live outside.

Questions

How is the size of my sign measured?

By its width, left to right across the longest line. You pick one of 12 widths from 20 to 120 in, and the height follows from your text and font: the designer shows an estimate, and the free proof gives the exact width and height.

What affects the price?

Three things: the width, color changing (RGB) and the outdoor build, and the designer updates the price as you change them. The font, the number of lines, several colors, the backboard, the mounting kit, the dimmer and the battery box option cost nothing extra. Rush production is an optional add-on.

What does the free proof look like?

After checkout we email you a digital mockup of your sign: your text drawn as tube paths, in your colors, with the exact width and height. Ask for as many changes as you like; nothing is made until you approve it. See what to check on a proof.

How long does it take to arrive?

Standard production takes 15 to 20 days after you approve the proof, then 3 to 5 days in transit within the US. Priority (10 to 14 days) and Express (7 to 9 days) rush production are add-ons. The days count from your approval, not from the order date, so reply to the proof quickly.

Can I use another font, or a different color on each line?

Yes to both. Tell us the font you have in mind and we match it on the free proof; very thin details may be adjusted so they work in tube. Each line can have its own color at no extra cost.

How bright is it, and can I dim it?

Every sign comes with a dimmer, remote or in-line, so you can turn it down to a soft glow for a bedroom or up for a bright room. It draws about 8 to 12 W per meter of tube.

Does it get hot, and how long does it last?

LED neon runs cool, unlike glass neon, and the sign runs on 12 V DC from a plug-in adapter whose power supply is cULus Listed and double insulated (more on safety). The LED tube is rated for 50,000 hours, and the sign has a 2-year warranty with free repair.

Can I hang it outside?

Choose the outdoor build: the tube and sealed parts are rated IP67, with a test report. The plug-in adapter must still stay dry, indoors or in a covered weatherproof outlet box.
