In-Line Dimmer Knob for 12 V LED Neon Signs
A rotary dimmer on the power cable of a single-color 12 V LED neon sign: turn the knob from full brightness down to a soft night-light glow.
Sometimes the simplest control is the best one. This in-line dimmer sits on the power cable of your sign, with a DC barrel plug on one end and a socket on the other. Turn the knob to set the brightness, from full glow down to a soft night-light level.
It plugs in between the adapter and the sign, so there is nothing to wire or cut. Unplug the sign, connect the adapter to the dimmer’s socket, plug the dimmer into the sign and turn the knob.
There is no remote to lose and no remote battery to change, which makes it handy for a sign in a shop, a bar or a hallway, where the control should stay with the sign.
Every LED sign we make already comes with a dimmer, remote or in-line. Buy this one:
- as a replacement for a lost or broken in-line dimmer
- as a spare for a second sign
- to swap a remote for a simple knob on the cable
It works with single-color 12 V LED neon signs. It is not for color-changing (RGB) signs, which have their own controller, or for glass neon, which runs on a high-voltage transformer.
If the adapter cable does not reach the place where you want the knob, a DC extension cable adds 6.5 to 16 ft between the outlet and the sign.
How to choose
Choose the knob if you want a control that stays on the cable and never goes missing, for a sign you can reach easily. Choose the remote dimmer if the sign hangs high, sits behind furniture or is far from where you sit.
Both work only with single-color 12 V LED neon signs. For a sign that changes color, you need the RGB controller with remote.
Questions
How do I connect it?
Unplug the sign, connect the adapter to the dimmer’s socket, then plug the dimmer into the sign. Nothing needs to be cut or wired.
How low can it go?
From full brightness down to a soft night-light glow.
Will it work with an RGB sign?
No. Color-changing signs need the RGB controller with remote.
Is this the same as the dimmer that came with my sign?
Every sign ships with a remote or an in-line dimmer. This is the in-line version, sold as a spare or a replacement.
Can I use it with glass neon?
No. It is made for 12 V LED neon only.
