Events and photo booths

At events, a neon sign has to look good on camera, go up fast and run where outlets are scarce. Plan the power and the hanging before the first booking.

What you need

Size
Behind a photo booth, 30 to 36 in leaves room for the guests in the frame; for a stage or a large backdrop, 48 in or more. A table sign of 20 to 24 in suits a guest book or a bar.
Color
Warm white reads best in photos, and hot pink and golden yellow add color. Color changing (RGB) lets one sign match each event's theme.
Backboard
Clear acrylic cut to shape lets the backdrop show through. Between jobs, keep each board flat in its box.
Mounting
Ceiling hanging cables clip a sign to a backdrop frame in minutes and slide to level it. On a table, a clear 8 mm stand holds a sign with a straight bottom edge.
Power
The battery box runs a sign for about 4 to 5 hours per set of 8 AA batteries, so carry spare sets for long events. Where there is an outlet, a DC extension cable reaches up to 16 ft.
When to order
Production takes 15 to 20 days after you approve the free proof, plus 3 to 5 days in transit. Booked for a close date? Rush production brings production down to 10 to 14 or 7 to 9 days.

How it comes together

  1. List the setups you run: booth backdrop, stage, table, entrance.
  2. Pick designs that suit many events, or type a custom phrase.
  3. Choose a size for each setup and approve the free proofs.
  4. Pack a battery box and spare AA batteries for venues without outlets.
  5. At the venue, hang the sign on the frame and level it.
  6. Take a test photo and a short video, then set the dimmer.

Tip: If you see bands or flicker in video, turn the dimmer up a step or change the camera's shutter speed.
