Cocktails Neon Sign with Martini Glass

“Cocktails” in pink script beside an ice-blue martini glass. It marks the place where drinks are made, whether that is a bar cart in the corner of the dining room, a home bar in the basement or the back wall of a cocktail lounge.

Pink and ice blue in one sign cost the same as a single color. The script is drawn with one tube along the centre of each stroke and the glass is outlined, all in flexible silicone LED tube pressed into grooves in clear acrylic about 1/4 in thick. On a dark wall or a mirrored back bar, the clear board almost disappears behind the color.

Bars are hard on surfaces, so a few practical notes:

• clean the board with a soft cloth and mild soapy water; glass cleaner and spirits contain ammonia or alcohol, which can cloud or craze acrylic
• on a tiled or glass backsplash, no-drill adhesive mounts hold on the smooth, sealed surface
• for a licensed venue, ask for a flame-retardant polycarbonate (PC) backboard if your fire inspector requires it

Light sets the mood in a bar, and the dimmer that comes with every sign lets you bring it down as the evening goes on. With the remote version you can change it from behind the bar without reaching for the cable.

Power comes from a plug-in adapter, 12 V DC to the sign, with a cULus Listed power supply. The sign is made to order after you approve a free proof: 15 to 20 days, then 3 to 5 days in transit, with 2 years of warranty and free repair.

Above a bar cart or a small dry bar, 20 or 24 in is enough. Over a home bar counter, choose 30 or 36 in. On the back wall of a lounge or restaurant bar, where guests read it from their tables, 48 or 60 in.

Pink and ice blue are pictured. For a darker, moodier bar, warm white or orange can be requested on the proof.

Wall standoffs float it about 1 in off drywall or brick, and no-drill mounts suit tile and glass. For a patio bar, choose the outdoor build and keep the adapter dry.
