Wedding neon sign ideas: wording for every spot
Original wedding neon sign wording for the backdrop, sweetheart table, bar and cake, plus last names, dates, English and Spanish ideas, sizes and colors.
Updated

The words are the part of a wedding sign that guests remember. This page collects original wording ideas sorted by where the sign will go, with notes on last names, dates and English and Spanish signs, then the sizes and colors that suit them. Every idea here can be typed into the neon designer as it is, or changed until it sounds like you.
For the planning side, such as hanging, venue power and when to order, see our wedding neon sign guide.
A few rules for wording that reads well
- One to four words per line. Script lettering gets harder to read the longer the line.
- One idea per sign. A name and a phrase and a date and a hashtag is four signs’ worth.
- Big line first, small line second. Put the main words on top and anything extra, like a date, on a smaller line below. Our designer takes up to three lines.
- Read it from across the room. Type it, step back from the screen and see if it still reads.
- Think about next year. Most wedding signs move to a wall at home. “The Garcias” works in a living room; a hashtag usually does not.
- Check every letter. Names, accents and apostrophes are easy to miss and cannot be changed once the tube is bent.
Backdrop and ceremony ideas
These sit behind you at the altar or on the photo wall, so they can be a little bigger and more personal:
- Here’s to Us
- Two Hearts, One Home
- Our Forever Starts Today
- Love Brought Us Here
- Finally, Forever
- I Do, We Did
- Ana + Luis, with a small heart between the names
- Better Together, also a ready-made design
- Happily Ever After, also ready-made
Sweetheart table ideas
The sign over your seats should frame you, not compete with you. Short is best:
- Mr & Mrs, also ready-made; Mr & Mr; Mrs & Mrs
- The Newlyweds
- Table for Two
- Just Us
- Ana & Luis
- Just Married, ready-made in soft pink
Last names and monograms
A last name is the idea that lasts longest at home.
- The Garcias
- The Joneses
- The Garcia Family
- Casa Garcia
- Garcia, with “Est. 2026” on a small second line
- A single initial, “G”, inside a heart outline
- Two initials with an ampersand: A & L
Getting the plural right. In English, add -s with no apostrophe: The Garcias, The Hendersons. If the name ends in s, x, z, ch or sh, add -es: The Joneses, The Foxes, The Lopezes. An apostrophe only belongs in a possessive, such as “The Joneses’ Bar”. In Spanish, a family name usually stays the same: Los García, and names ending in -z or -s stay as they are: Los Martínez, Los Pérez. For hyphenated or double last names, “The Garcia-Reyes Family” or “Casa Garcia-Reyes” reads better than forcing a plural.
Dates
- 10.24.26
- Est. 2026
- Since October 24, 2026
- Ana & Luis on the first line, 10.24.26 below
- The date in Roman numerals, for a formal look: X · XXIV · MMXXVI
Two tips. A date on its own small sign, next to a main sign with your names, lets the big sign go home without the date. And for a bilingual family, remember that 10.24.26 reads as October 24 in the US, while most of Latin America writes that day as 24.10.26. Spelling out the month (“Oct 24, 2026” or “24 de octubre”) avoids any doubt.

English and Spanish ideas
For families who celebrate in both languages, put one language on each line, or alternate between signs: the backdrop in one, the bar in the other.
| English | Spanish | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
| Better Together | Mejor Juntos | Backdrop |
| Happily Ever After | Felices Para Siempre | Backdrop, dessert table |
| Just Married | Recién Casados | Sweetheart table, send-off |
| Mr & Mrs | Sr. & Sra. | Sweetheart table |
| The Garcias | Los García | Backdrop, then home |
| I Do | Sí, Acepto | Ceremony |
| You & Me | Tú y Yo | Sweetheart table |
| Always | Siempre | Any spot |
| Cheers | Salud | Bar |
| Welcome | Bienvenidos | Entrance |
| Love | Amor | Cake table, photo booth |
Mixed ideas that read naturally to both sides of the family: “Love” over “Amor” on two lines, “Hoy y Siempre” with your names below, or “Salud, Cheers” over the bar.
Accents are small details. The marks in Sí, Tú and Recién are tiny next to the letters. On a large sign they can be a short piece of tube; on a small one they may be UV printed on the board instead, and the proof shows which. Ask us if you want them in tube.
Phrases to leave out
Song lyrics and lines from films and books belong to their writers, so we suggest your own words or everyday phrases instead. Long sentences, inside jokes only two people understand, and anything you would not want on your wall next year are also worth a second thought.
Sizes for these ideas
Allow about 2 in of width for every letter and space on the longest line. That gives the smallest width that fits; backdrops usually go bigger.
| Wording | Lines | Smallest width | Good width for the spot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mr & Mrs | 1 | 20 in | 20 to 24 in on a cake table, 36 to 48 in behind the sweetheart table |
| Here’s to Us | 1 | 24 in | 36 to 48 in on a backdrop |
| The Garcias | 1 | 24 in | 36 to 48 in on a backdrop |
| Two Hearts, / One Home | 2 | 24 in | 36 to 48 in on a backdrop |
| Cheers to / Forever | 2 | 20 in | 24 to 36 in at the bar |
| Felices / Para Siempre | 2 | 24 in | 36 to 48 in on a backdrop |
| Ana & Luis / 10.24.26 | 2 | 20 in | 24 to 30 in on a welcome table |
Splitting a long phrase over two lines keeps it narrow enough for a table or an arch. Our neon sign size guide has more charts, and the designer shows the height of your text as you type.
Colors that suit the words
- Warm white for names, last names and classic phrases. It looks soft in photos and suits most decor.
- White for a crisp, modern look, especially with greenery.
- Soft pink for playful lines at the bar or on the dance floor.
- Two colors in one sign, such as names in warm white and a heart in pink, at no extra cost.
- Color changing (RGB), at extra cost, for a dance floor sign that switches color through the night.
- The board changes the look too: clear disappears into flowers, while black or mirror suits a black-tie room. See backboard options.
A script font is the usual choice for wedding wording; our guide to the best fonts for neon signs shows how each one reads lit up. For how colors look switched off, see neon sign colors on and off.
